I am a shameless bass gear nerd – and love watching gear demo videos that others put up on YouTube – so I thought it would be fun to produce a few of my own.
Ernie Ball Music Man – Tim Commerford Stingray Bass

When I heard that they were releasing another batch of Tim Commerford (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave) signature Stingrays, I knew I had to grab one. They were limited to 50 Active Basses and 50 Passive – with mine being the 6th in the series of the passive model.
This model has a bunch of interesting features, most notable being:
- Passive Electronics – very rare for a Stingray
- Finger Ramp – a feature which has proved to be way more useful than I could have imagined, allowing a wider range of finger placement
- String Mutes – just like the old school stingrays of the late 70s, this one has adjustable mutes for each string
I recorded a demo video below – which showcases some of the tones on offer (using some select RATM tunes!)
