Testimonials:
“I worked with Mike for 10 years, playing with him in the Spinbox and Flight of Sound bands. Beside the fact that I love his sense of time and feel I was always impressed with how well he locked in with the band. Mike was always listening to what his bandmates were playing and staying focused on the flow and direction of a songs arrangement. As anyone who has played in a band knows, things can happen when playing live so this aspect of playing in a group is so important. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a solid bassist for your gig or recording session.”

“Mike Owen is a true gem for any musician looking for a bassist in a pinch, or otherwise. He learns material quickly and accurately and is able to perform it with ease, confidence and a true sense of familiarity. He can step into playing situations smoothly and assimilate quickly, understanding songs not only structurally, but also aesthetically with an attuned ear for nuance. Mike Owen stands out amongst as peers as the consummate professional, working with him has been a pleasure!”
– Jon Pozzuto (Solo Artist)
I had the honor of playing with Mike in my band CitizenSane, a band with a nice little local following in New York City. We needed Mike to join at a tough time but he brought a talent and spirit that has stayed with us even after his departure. While the songs are straightforward, we had no charts and very little ideas for him. This actually made things more difficult, I think, but Mike somehow smoothly transitioned and made the songs so much funkier and tighter. Mike blessed us for several years playing bass for whatever we could pay him, which was never enough – but always on time, never a fuss, always enthusiastic and willing to work on and contribute to a bunch of new material. I guarantee you, man, whatever this cat engages in he comes ready, willing and able and always on his A game. Versatile, talented and a real bad-ass funky groove!
– David Kaplan (Citizen Sane)
